May 14, 1963 – April 20, 2008

Ken Brandow passed away on April 20 in San Francisco, California. Ken collapsed while dancing at Sundance Saloon, doing something he loved, around friends he loved. Ken is survived by his parents, Harold and Maxine Brandow, of Ypsilanti, Michigan, a brother Larry, sister Darlene, long-term friends near his hometown in Michigan, his friends in SF, and his dog, Cody. Ken was 44.

Ken moved from Michigan to the SF Bay Area in the early 1990's. He was an animal lover, and supported the Humane Society. An avid photographer and cinematographer, Ken produced collections of nature, still life, and a number of short films appearing in local film festivals. He worked as a Web Developer for a national retailer. Ken was active in the recovery community and was an active and recognizable dancer at Sundance Saloon. With his tall frame, silver beard, cowboy hat and perennial smile, he cast a large shadow, which will be missed by all.

Ken sparked joy in the lives of those who knew him well. Farewell Ken, we all miss you. There will be a memorial service at the LGBT Center (1800 Market Street, SF) on Saturday, May 3 at 2pm. For more information, call 415-864-4046.
