Lion dancers donning Pride and trans-themed costumes led the inaugural Chinatown Pride Procession Saturday, May 24, in the historic San Francisco neighborhood. The GLBTQ+ Asian Pacific Alliance also helped lead the procession, which visited queer landmarks and had a dance performance at the Portsmouth Square Pedestrian Bridge. The event was co-produced by the Chinese Culture Center of San Francisco and Edge on the Square.
Queer and trans Asian Pacific Islanders also held a march and rally outside City Hall May 27 as part of AAPI Heritage Month. That event ended with a town hall at Trans Thrive, a program of the San Francisco Community Health Center located on Polk Street.
Updated, 6/2/25: This article has been updated to note the co-producers of the Pride event in Chinatown.
