October 5, 1940 — September 1, 2022

Jim McCrea, 81, resident of Piedmont, California, formerly of Cuba City, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully in Oakland on September 1, 2022, following a nearly yearlong battle with cancer. Born October 5, 1940 in Cuba City to Guerdon "Butch" and Sylvia (Lacke) McCrea. Survived by his life partner of 50 years, Gregory L. Jurin; the couple were married in 2015.

Mr. McCrea graduated Cuba City High School (1958) and Marquette University, Milwaukee (1962), then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served as a captain for eight years. Afterward he moved to the San Francisco Bay Area. He had a career in human resources, primarily banking. He retired in 2003 and traveled extensively.

He was such a wonderful man of lively faith and passionate about social, political, and environmental justice. He passed on the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation.

There will be a vigil Friday, September 23, at 7 p.m. and funeral liturgy and reception at 10 a.m., Saturday September 24, both at Corpus Christi Church, 322 Saint James Drive, in Piedmont. Private services will follow October 10 in Cuba City. Interment will be at St. Rose Cemetery in Cuba City.
