Our dear friend Jim Barnett passed away peacefully August 22, 2016.

Jim was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on August 14, 1946. After graduating Paxton High School in Jacksonville, Florida, he made the decision to enlist in the Navy for a three-year stint. He had many great adventures as a dancer and professional skater traveling the world.

In the late 1970s he moved to California. He settled in San Francisco, a city he always knew he would love to live in. In 1981 he was hired at Kaiser Permanente in the Bay Area, where he worked in many positions and ended up as an administrator in charge of sterilization in the operating rooms at both the Richmond and Oakland hospitals.

He had many and varied interests. He loved his many friends and enjoyed supporting the performing arts in the Bay Area. He loved his Siamese cats, Marcos and Milos, and Rudy and Lucy. His greatest passion was self-realization fellowship and seeking truth through years of devoted meditation practice.

A memorial celebration of his life will be held Sunday, November 6 at 1 p.m. at the Berkeley Self-Realization Fellowship Temple, 3201 Shattuck Avenue, near Ashby BART. Directions at http://www.berkeleytemple.org.

We will miss you, dear Jim, but know you are safe in the hands of the One Beloved.
