A memorial will be held for Ruth Helen Weinstein Spiegel, her son, Charles Spiegel, has announced. The memorial will be held Sunday, January 17 at 3 p.m. at Congregation Sha'ar Zahav, 290 Dolores Street in San Francisco.
Ms. Spiegel died October 22, 2015 in Washington, D.C. She was 88. She had lived in San Francisco for almost a decade starting in 2001. She retired as managing editor of the Smithsonian Institution Press after the September 11 attack on Washington, and moved to San Francisco to help raise her granddaughter, Nora.
