Michael "Mikey" Sweigert was born on November 29, 1966 in Chicago, Illinois to Rosemary and Michael Pascual; and later adopted by Robert J. Sweigert.
He died of complications due to a long and courageous fight with liver and kidney failure on December 2, 2011 in San Francisco.
Mikey is survived by his mother, Rosemary, of Columbia, Tennessee; sister Michelle; uncle Terry Kean; aunt Denise Carmona; and uncle Michael Kean; as well as his nephew, Jamie W. Phillips, and niece Kristi M. Phillips.
He was preceded in death by his partner, Steven.
Mikey also leaves behind many close friends in San Francisco.
Mikey moved to San Francisco from Port St. Lucie, Florida, in 1989.
He was a poet, a keepsake treasurer, and a collector. Many who remember him knew of his elephant knick-knack collection.
He will be missed by all who knew him.
A short memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 5 at 5 p.m. in Golden Gate Park by the ocean.
