Richard "Dick" Lowell, of Concord, California, died gracefully August 6, with his longtime best friend and partner Kenny Devin, and beloved sister "Mar" by his side, after a valiant battle against cancer. He was 70.

Born in 1941, in Great Falls, Montana, Dick was the son of Buck and Ruth Lowell. He was a Renaissance Man in the very truest sense. A gourmet chef, artist and painter, wood craftsman, avid reader and researcher, brilliant thinker, business executive, pilot, animal lover, and avid volunteer, Dick was a devoted son, brother, and partner, a consummate teacher, mentor, and friend to so many throughout his life.

Dick worked for the American Cancer and American Heart associations, Hilton Hotels, and as a respected senior vice president for Bank of America; and then Tony LaRussa's Animal Rescue Foundation in his retirement.

Dick was preceded in death by his father and mother, and his partner James McCaslin. He is survived by his longtime love and partner Kenny Devin, a deputy sheriff of San Francisco; and his sister and brother-in-law, Marsha and Wally Jacobson, of Kalispell, Montana.

There will be no formal service, although Dick would be honored for any donations to his furry friends at ARF, helping save animals' lives: ARF: 2890 Mitchell Drive, Walnut Creek, CA 94598.
