In keeping with his Cajun roots, a memorial "Mardi Gras" will be held at Terra Gallery in San Francisco to celebrate the life of Dusty James Derouen on Saturday, October 23, 2010.

A keen businessman, Dusty created a small event space, Fine Arts DuJour on South Van Ness Street that eventually led to what is now San Francisco's premier event facility, Terra Gallery on Harrison Street.

Born in New Iberia, Louisiana, Dusty started his multi-faceted entrepreneurial career cleaning carpets and ended with him being the CEO of Terra Gallery LLC in San Francisco.

Dusty loved to travel and scuba dive which included many diving excursions throughout the US and Central America. He was also a huge science fiction fan. Dusty led a rich and fulfilling life and his charismatic and charming nature attracted many. To know Dusty was to love Dusty as his quick wit and ability to turn any situation into gold was legendary. Dusty had many, many friends and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his mother Patricia Derouen, and is survived by his step father Neil Derouen, sister Linda A. Artigue, brother Nicky Derouen, nephews Jake Artigue and Derrick Cook, nieces Madison Poole and Neely Derouen  and many other family members.

In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Dusty's memory.
