Ralph "Ed" Herring passed away peacefully in San Francisco on April 12 at the age of 68. A poet and author, Ed lived in the Bay Area for the past 20 years. Born in Fulton, Missouri on April 29, 1942, Ed served in the US Armed Forces during the Vietnam War. For the past 10 years Ed lived at the Richard M. Cohen Residence and a member of the New Ground Church Group. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law Jan and Lola Herring.

The author of poetry and fiction, Ed also worked as a teacher and creative-writing instructor. Ed will be remembered for many fine qualities: creative flair, avant-garde style, his mischievous and kindly humor, but perhaps, most especially his compassionate heart and tender soul. Ed brought tremendous joy and pleasure to the many close friends and family in his life.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, May 11 at 6:00 p.m. at the Cohen Residence in San Francisco.
