Jonathan William Gaffney made his transition suddenly on February 7, 2010. He is survived by his parents, Diane and Bartry Gaffney, a sister, Mary Gaffney and his longtime souldmate, Perry Rhodes III, to whom this writer is grateful for the opportunity to author this tribute.
Sometimes the best way to help people through the grieving process is to ask them to be of service.
Perry described Jonathan, a former Mr. Gay San Francisco in 2008, and a bartender at The Lookout, as a "great light." He radiated warmth and affection, and always greeted everyone with a loving hug.
Jonathan's abrupt departure from this life leaves his loved ones with a lot of questions. But as a very wise lady, who also happened to be my mother, once told me: the soul chooses its own time to go.
We'll sort it out in the great beyond. In the meantime, sweet brother, sleep with the angels.
