January 6, 1936 - August 14, 2009

Our beloved friend Fred Loseth passed away on Friday, August 14, after a long struggle with diabetes and HIV. He was preceded in death by his father Arthur Allen Atkins, and his mother Dorothy Atkins. Fred was born in Orofino, Idaho, and moved to San Francisco in 1965. He worked for many years as school psychologist for the Mount Diablo School District, retiring in the mid-1990s to enjoy his beautiful Sacramento Street apartment, his cat Willy, and his many friends and social activities.

Among other things, Fred was a connoisseur of fine San Francisco dining, avidly doing the restaurant tours with all of us. He was also a world traveler with many great adventures around the globe, and so looked forward to his trips.

A great photographer, he took thousands of pictures in Africa, Asia, South America and Europe. Fred is survived by his loving sister Mary Lou of Prescott, Arizona, his brother John of Orofino, Idaho, his many loving San Francisco buddies including Roger, Keith, David, Tom, John, Cavan, Ronald and Terry, and all the members of his weekly HIV support group. Raise us a glass Freddy, and rest in peace in that better place.
