Kenneth Froschauer, a resident of Oakland, passed away on April 11. Orphaned at an early age, Kenneth proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1946"1948. He then served in the Navy from 1948"1951. He earned an associates degree in Science from Laney College in 1973, and graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine in 1975. Certified as a physician's assistant, Kenneth joined the medical practice of Robert Scott, where he worked for 20 years.

Kenneth provided professional and uniquely compassionate medical care to hundreds of patients during the early phase of the HIV epidemic, and also served as a volunteer for Project Open Hand and the Center for AIDS Services in Oakland.

He enjoyed classical music and was an expert in piano music and orchestral pieces. He never missed an opportunity to attend local concerts.

He will be remembered for his strength, personality and joy in the simple things of life. Remembered fondly by a small group of friends and surviving patients, a private memorial service and scattering of Kenneth's ashes in planned in the near future.
