Jeff Jacka, a true "taste bud of the universe," passed away on March 29, 2009 at his home in Atlanta from an apparent heart attack. Jeff died while sitting in his hot tub looking out on his beautiful garden. Blessed be.
Jeff moved to Santa Cruz in the early 1990s and spent much time in San Francisco. In 2005 he moved to Atlanta to help his mother and be close to his sister and nieces.
Jeff traveled in many circles and tribes over the years. Musically, he could be found dancing with one foot grooving in Terrapin Station and the other stomping all night long at Pleasuredome. He loved to party with friends at Plaskett Creek every Thanksgiving. He was a flagger supreme, a circuit party aficionado, Deadhead, Burner, Pagan, world traveler, a lover of nature, even president of his neighborhood association.
He was a very loving man who discovered a deep spiritual sense in his later years and engaged in many paths to touch it. Contributions can be made to the Nature Conservancy or charity of choice. A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 11 in the AIDS Memorial Grove from 1 to 4 p.m. Bring your flags!
