Robert Royal Jaques, 61, of Captain Cook, Hawaii died at his residence January 12, 2009. He was born in Massachusetts April 26, 1947. Robert came to Hawaii in December 2007, settling in Captain Cook, where he was a director of network engineering in the computer industry. He is survived by his wife, Donna Jaques of Captain Cook; daughters, Kristen (Scott) Jones of Memphis, Tennessee, and Jennifer Jaques of San Jose, California; hanai-sons, Stefan Grygelko of San Francisco, California, and Devante Cotton of San Jose, California; sisters, Carol (David) DiCicco of Wilmington, Massachusetts, and Diane Chiu of Concord, Massachusetts; three nieces and one nephew. 

During his time in San Francisco, Bob and his wife Donna were actively involved in the gay community. Beginning as early as 1994, they volunteered at the Names Project. In following years, Bob was a member of San Francisco Pride, serving on the board as treasurer as well as the medical committee, for which his wife co-chaired for approximately seven years. In addition, Bob also sang with the Lesbian/Gay Chorus of San Francisco for about nearly four years.

Bob and Donna, as they were known as in the community, were active members of Frameline. They attended the Gay and Lesbian Film Festival for seven years or more. They also attended Trannyshack from its first year, traveling from Hawaii to attend the final show.
