1958 – 2008
Gregg Andrews, former Emergency Department nurse at California Pacific Medical Center, Davies campus, died unexpectedly on October 30 at home in Vancouver, Canada, where he had relocated. Gregg had worked for many years at Davies ER and was well known in the community.
Gregg was a volunteer at Rocket Dogs, a rescue organization for abused and neglected animals. He himself fostered animals needing care, and adopted several dogs who were blind and disabled.
Gregg participated in several AIDS Rides, including three of the SF to LA and also rides in Hawaii and the Northeast. He believed in helping people down on their luck, and helped to care for others who were ill and in distress. In recent years, Gregg struggled with his own health problems, and was finally forced to give up his career as a nurse. This was a great loss for him.
Gregg will be greatly missed by his parents Florence and Al Andrews of Saskatchewan, Canada, his brother Randy, his wife and children, and many friends and colleagues in Vancouver and San Francisco. A memorial service was held in Vancouver last week. This kind and generous man is now at peace.
