September 25, 1965 – July 11, 2008
began his earthly sojourn on 25 September 1965 in Memphis, Tennesseem, but left relatives and friends behind in the Fall of 1985 so as to pursue his high school dream of living in California. Steve�s earthly sojourn concluded in San Francisco on July 11, 2008 when his Spirit left his 42-year-old body behind so as to pursue his dreams in the next life.
Some remember Steve as a Hospital Unit Services Coordinator III at UCSF Medical Center's Intensive Cardiac Care Unit (10-ICC), a position he held from December 1995 until February 2008.
Most, however, remember Steve from the Box, or the Phoenix, or many of the other gay venues in San Francisco. Steve met Philip A. Petit on August 7, 1992 and they spent very little time apart during their 16 years together. Officially California-registered domestic partners, Steve and Phil discovered over time that they were each other�s once-in-a-lifetime best friend.
Steve�s body was waked on July 17 and was laid to rest in Cypress Lawn Cemetery in Colma on July 18. Steve�s friends and acquaintances are invited to gather to recall and celebrate Steve at World Gym, 16th & DeHaro streets, beginning at 4 p.m. on Sunday, August 10. Please RSVP to Ms. Jane M.
