Donald was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was the son of the late Gary and Jackie Garrity, also of Oklahoma City. He leaves two brothers, Phil and Nick, his twin sister Terri, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Donald attended local schools in his home town and worked as a cosmetologist and owned his own business before moving to San Francisco in the mid-1970s. While living in San Francisco, he continued his cosmetology work until his disabilities prevented him from working any longer.
Donald met his life partner, Ray Millette, and they lived in the South Bay until 1994, when they moved to the city by the bay. They spent 27 years together and enjoyed some travel and many good friends.
Donald battled many illnesses and injuries over the years until he could no longer tolerate the poor quality of life. He passed peacefully with his friends Margi and Danielle, and Ray, by his side. He is missed by many and will be remembered for his great personality and sense of humor.
