Jack Shears died peacefully at home Monday, October 8th from complications of cancer. A native of Hutchinson, Kansas, Jack moved to California in 1965 where he met his life partner Adam Window. Together, Jack and Adam founded Shears & Window, a groundbreaking design showroom in the Galleria Design Center. Adam preceded him in death in 1985. His son Tom, daughter Ann and four granddaughters survive Jack as well as his brothers William and Robert and sister, Elizabeth. Jack is also survived by his partner of six years, Pablo Parra.

A memorial and celebration of Jacks life will be held at the San Francisco Design Center, Galleria atrium, 101 Henry Adams Street, Friday, October 26 at 5:30pm with a reception in the showroom afterwards.

In lieu of flowers, Jack requested that donations be made to two of his favorite charities: the San Francisco Public Library's Hormel Gay and Lesbian Center c/o Friends of the Library, 391 Grove St., SF, 94102 or DIFFA (Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS) at 50 Beale Street, Suite 1300, S.F., 94105.

Those fortunate to have been a part of his life will dearly miss Jack's love of life, his passion and fair-minded approach to all.
