1956 – 2007

Steven Waters left us on August 6, 2007 to join the angels who were always with him, and the crazy cast of characters waiting for him in heaven.

Steven grew up in Scotland Neck, North Carolina and was the ultimate southern gentleman. He was soft-spoken, dapper and very popular.

Steven worked at I. Magnin and GumpÕs in the gift department. He had a special way with gardens. His most recent gardening project was the Sylvan Heights Waterfowl Park and Eco-Center in Scotland Neck.

Steven was a wonderful man, caring of others and giving of himself. As a long-term AIDS survivor, Steven was part of the genome project and often tested new drugs to find a cure for AIDS. He died of pneumonia at 51.

His mother and three brothers survive him. His father and sister preceded him in death.

We will dearly miss Steven, but his legacy lives on through his work in finding a cure. We can see him now, in a seersucker jacket and madras bow tie, sitting in a beautiful garden, the center of attention, as he often was.

Please do something kind for someone, in honor of Steven, or give to the charity of your choice.
