Morris Fontenot, affectionately known as Jun by his immediate family, died early in the morning at Kaiser Hospital in San Francisco. In his last hours he was surrounded by his loving family: mother, aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces.

Morris was a long time AIDS survivor who remained gorgeous, fit and healthy until he was diagnosed with liver cancer just two months ago. He was able to live in his own apartment until the last few days of his life.

Morris was born in Louisiana and moved to San Francisco as young boy. In the early 90s he moved to Marin County. Although Morris was open and friendly with many different people, he loved his private time at home with his pets, which at times included dogs, cats, fish, hamsters and mice. Morris was very fond of kids, and one of his favorite jobs was working with handicapped children.

But what the gay men of Marin will fondly remember him for was his bartending at the monthly gay mens mixers at the Panama Hotel. Flirting with all the men was the perfect opportunity for Morris to showcase his smile, enthusiasm and warmth.

There will be a memorial service at the Panama Hotel, Saturday, October 6, from 2:30 to 6:00. Please contact Dan at [email protected]
