John Frank passed away peacefully at his home in Lisbon Falls, Maine on Christmas Eve. He was 63.

A Maine native, John grew up in the Bowdoinham area and graduated from Brunswick High School. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from the University of Maine at Orono in 1977.

After college, John settled in the Bay Area, where he held a variety of jobs, including a stint at the San Francisco Sentinel and then over 20 years as an accountant at UCSF. In 2012, he returned to Maine to be near family.

John will be remembered for his love of literature (Dorothy Parker), music (Dusty Springfield), animals and friends, although not necessarily in that order. He was a hilarious raconteur with a fondness for life's absurdities. His charm, candor, wit and warmth will be missed.

John is survived by his canine companion, Mona, and friends and family on both coasts. He was especially close to his great-nephew, Nick; Nicks wife, Heather; and their son, Eli. They made sure his last years were filled with love and affection. Donations in John's memory can be made to the Coastal Humane Society, 30 Range Road, Brunswick, Maine 04011.
