October 14, 1958 - June 13, 2009

A colorful and extraordinary man, David transitioned peacefully at Davies Medical Center on June 13 after a valiant 25-year struggle with HIV and AIDS.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, David moved to San Francisco after graduating from St. Joseph's University in 1980 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business. For 10 years he worked as an accountant for Atlas Heating in Oakland.

David was a recognizable face around the Castro whose charm and charisma were surpassed only by his friendliness and generosity. He extended kindnesses to innumerable friends and strangers throughout his life, believing strongly in the power of karma.

David is predeceased by his life partner, superstar DJ Neil Lewis, his father, and precious cat Keespa. He is survived by his mother, brothers, sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews; the Lewis Family in Rochester, NY who loved and supported him faithfully; his beloved cats Chila and Shera; and many friends and loved ones.

Special thanks to all those who lovingly cared for David in his final months including devoted friends, home health workers, and the wonderful doctors and nurses at Davies and Sutter VNA and Hospice. A private memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 27.
