Noel Walsh suffered a fatal heart attack while on vacation in Amsterdam with Maurice Farrell, his significant other for the last six years. It came as a shock to many of us who knew him, even though last September, he had four additional stents put into his arteries. He worked at The Cove on Castro Street from 1988 and 1998 and was well liked by the clientele for his sense of humor and generosity.

He returned to his native Ireland in 1998 and had been working as a staff writer for Gay Community News, a Dublin-based gay publication.

With his devil-may-care attitude, many thought him uncaring, but it was rather his devilish sense of humor that came through. Many times he would spend nights with the sick and was always there for friends. He was also notorious for his flirtations and escapades. He will be greatly missed and always remembered.
