More than 500 people, mostly men, donned red dresses Saturday, June 17, and gathered outside Twin Peaks Tavern at 4 p.m. before making their way to stops throughout the Castro "at least until dusk," said Twin Peaks bartender and participant Bryant Labitag. "I saw dresses well into the evening," Labitag told the Bay Area Reporter in a phone interview. It was all part of the Red Dress Bar Crawl to help Castro watering holes. Revenue from beverages sales went into the till at each bar, so a total dollar amount raised was not determined. In addition to Twin Peaks, participating bars included Midnight Sun, The Mix, The Edge, and 440 Castro. The motto of the bar crawl is "Keeping the Castro gay since 2011," Labitag said.
