In San Francisco's LGBTQ Castro neighborhood June 12, Indigenous dancers performed at the remembrance ceremony for the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando, Florida. This year marked the sixth anniversary of the 2016 massacre that saw 49 people die and more than 50 others injured. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-San Francisco) issued a statement commemorating the anniversary, noting that last year Congress voted to make the Pulse site a national memorial. The OnePULSE Foundation is now in the process of establishing a permanent memorial at the site of the former LGBTQ nightclub.
