The 1st out police commissioner
Thank you for your December 22 editorial "Queer voices missing on police panel."
Your list of LGBTQ police commissioners omitted the first one — Jo Daly, who was appointed to the Police Commission by Mayor Dianne Feinstein in 1980 and served until 1986. The San Francisco Chronicle described the late Commissioner Daly as "demanding, and getting, more police responsiveness to the public." Also missing from your list is David Detrick, police commissioner from 1992 to 1993.
The above served when the Police Commission was only five people, all appointed by the mayor.
