Crime reporting through the history of the Bay Area Reporter will be the focus of the tenth online panel discussion, part of the newspaper's 50th anniversary commemorations.

The B.A.R. has an impressive history of reporting —and breaking— news stories often overlooked by the mainstream media. Many of our crime stories have later been sourced by other outlets. Some have even helped solve cases.

Current and former journalists will discuss coverage of the Harvey Milk/George Moscone assassinations, the White Night Riots, anti-gay crimes, the Castro Halloween shootings, and some gruesome murders through the years.

Reporter Ed Walsh, Transmission columnist and author Gwen Smith, World News columnist Heather Cassell and former news writer Dennis Conkin will share their experiences and insights on some of the B.A.R.'s most notorious stories over the years. Arts and Nightlife Editor and panel producer Jim Provenzano moderates.

The panel will take place online Thursday, February 10, 6pm PT on the B.A.R.'s Facebook page, and will be archived there and on the B.A.R.'s YouTube channel.
