KQED public broadcasting held its annual LGBT Pride reception Thursday, June 7 at its San Francisco broadcast center. This year's recipients of the station's local heroes awards are, from left, John Darby and Jack Bird, partners since 1959 who live at San Francisco Towers and are active volunteers there; Julie Lienert, executive director of Ally Action, which works to support school communities to be safe, inclusive, and effective for all; and Mark Misrok, director of client services and community programs at the Positive Resource Center who has been living with HIV for more than 20 years.
