More reminders that summers are no longer a dead zone at the movies for adults.

Baywatch Seth Gordon resurrects a TV series for the big screen, with Zac Efron, Dwayne Johnson and Alexandra Daddario.

Berlin Syndrome Teresa Palmer is an Australian tourist who discovers to her horror that her new friend has taken her prisoner. Cate Shortland's thriller got Sundance buzz for a projection glitch during its Park City debut.

Black Butterfly This reboot of a French television movie finds a screenwriter (Antonio Banderas) playing host to a stray cat (Irish hottie Jonathan Rhys Meyers). His guest takes exception to his latest script, producing a meltdown that's been compared to Misery.

Buena Vista Social Club Adios Lucy Walker (Countdown to Zero) returns to the Cuban setting for Wim Wenders' popular doc about a band of extraordinary Cuban musicians. Her film features Eliades Ochos and Omara Portuondo.

Drone Western drone pilot (Sean Bean) becomes the target of a revenge-minded Pakistani man (Patrick Sabongut) who blames the pilot for the deaths of his wife and daughter.

Hermia & Helena Argentine filmmaker Matias Pineiro returns with another Shakespeare-inspired drama. This time the Bard's contribution is Midsummer Night's Dream, mixed with Pineiro's own bio to construct a tale of a theater director (Agustina Munoz) in New York.

Joshua: Teenager vs. Superpower The 13-year-old hero of Hong Kong's protests against the brutal elimination of the former British colony's self-rule gets his story told.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales Javier Bardem is recruited for this beyond-camp big-screen saga that again stars Johnny Depp as the over-the-top Captain Jack Sparrow.

War Machine Aussie director David Michod, whose family crime saga Animal Kingdom was a nonstop thrill ride about a group of gunslinging psychos, adapts Michael Hastings' book The Operators: The Wild and Terrifying Story of America's War in Afghanistan. Brad Pitt is a charismatic American general whose adventures become a story throughline. With Topher Grace, Anthony Michael Hall, Tilda Swinton, Ben Kingsley and Lakeith Stanfield.

The Women's Balcony This Israeli comedy concerns the cost of separating the sexes. A synagogue balcony used to divide women from men during a bar mitzvah ceremony collapses.

All About the Money A Colombia-set drug comedy about a man (Eddie Griffin) who lures friends into vacationing in a drug-smuggling region, hoping to collect bounties for the arrest of drug dealers. Co-star Blake Freeman directs.

Band Aid A hetero couple (Zoe Lister-Jones and Adam Pally) think they can calm their argument-prone relationship by forming a rock band. She writes, directs and shares credit for the lyrics. Fred Armisen co-stars.

Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie An animated story: mischievous kids hypnotize their school's principal, transforming him into a jockey briefs superhero and protagonist of their comic book. Based on Dav Pilkey's series of children's' books, with voices by Kevin Hart, Ed Helms, Thomas Middleditch and Jordan Peele.

Churchill Brian Cox is the embattled British leader during "their finest hour," the dark days spent resisting Hitler's minions. With Mad Men's John Slattery as Supreme Allied Commander Dwight David Eisenhower, and Miranda Richardson as Winnie's wife Clementine. The story tracks the path to the Allied invasion of Nazi-controlled Europe on D-Day.

Dean Demetri Martin is the writer, director and star of this drama about a son who weathers his mom's death while navigating a prickly bond with dad (Kevin Kline). A critical fave from the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival. With Mary Steenburgen and Gillian Jacobs.

The Exception This Nazi-era tale arrives with nifty twists. A German soldier (Jai Courtney) whose task is to watch over the exiled Kaiser Wilhelm II (Christopher Plummer) begins an affair with a maid (Lily James) who is both a spy and Jewish. Veteran character actor Eddie Marsan appears as Nazi leader Himmler.

Letters from Baghdad Werner Herzog presents this bio-doc about Gertrude Bell, an English adventuress who has come to be seen as a distaff Lawrence of Arabia. Tilda Swinton narrates; features century-old WWI-era footage.

Past Life Two Israeli sisters examine their father's behavior in Holocaust-era Poland. Avi Nesher (The Matchmaker) directs.

Vincent-N-Roxxy Emile Hirsch (Milk's Cleve Jones) co-stars with Zoe Kravitz in this violence-laden romantic drama.

Wonder Woman This origin-myth feature provides a female superhero (Gal Gadot) in a Patty Jenkins-directed action movie. Chris Pine co-stars as love interest.

Ascent This Dutch-directed photo-doc gives us Japan's sacred mountain, Mt. Fuji, over a span of 150 years.

Awakening the Zodiac A snoopy couple (Shane West and Leslie Bibb) stumble onto trouble when they unearth a film they believe was shot by California's infamous Zodiac killer some 40 years back.

Beatriz at Dunner Director Miguel Arteta and screenwriter Mike White attempt a Trump-mocking comedy. The premise is a meltdown, non-cute-meet between a massage therapist (Salma Hayek) and a pushy billionaire innkeeper (John Lithgow). With Connie Britton, David Warshofsky, Amy Landecker and Chloe Sevigny.

Dawson City: Frozen Time The dangerous nitrate film stock of yore was disposed of in some hopefully safe way. An unexpected treasure of found-footage nitrate stock becomes the basis for Bill Morrison's film, combining an essay on film history with a salute to the back pages of the one-time Gold Rush capital.

11:55 The classic 50s adult Western High Noon becomes a metaphor in the saga of the return home from battle of a possibly battlefield-traumatized Marine. With Victor Almanzar, Elizabeth Rodriguez, Shirley Rumnierk, John Leguizamo and Julia Stiles.

The Hero Fans of the Coen Brothers' cult classic The Big Lebowski will recognize vet Sam Elliot. Elliot reprises a stock character out of the Duke Wayne playbook: the old gunslinger who learns he's dying from cancer. Bret Haley's film features Nick Offerman, Laura Prepon and Krysten Ritter.

It Comes at Night Trey Edward Shults' second feature is a family horror melodrama. Papa bear (Aussie character star Joel Edgerton) tries to protect his family on a dark spooky night. What should he do when another family comes calling? With Riley Keough, Carmen Ejogo and Christopher Abbott.

Megan Leavey This woman-at-war tale should appeal to animal-lovers as well. A female marine (Kate Mara) does two tours with her bomb-sniffing dog. When an explosion injures both, they face the challenge of coping together amongst clueless civilians. With Edie Falco, Ramon Rodriguez and Common.

Moscow Never Sleeps Irish-born, Moscow-residing filmmaker Johnny O'Reilly shows us his much happier side of the Russian capital. With Leviathan cast member Aleksey Serebryakov.

The Mummy Tom Cruise stars in this remake of a remake of a remake: the original goes back to 1932 and starred Boris Karloff. With Annabelle Wallis, Russell Crowe and Jake Johnson.

My Cousin Rachel Director Roger Michell is the latest to base a film on the stories of Daphne du Maurier (The Birds, Don't Look Now, Rebecca). The 1951 novel finds an Englishman suspecting foul play at the family castle. With Sam Claflin and Rachel Weisz.

Night School Docmaker Andrew Cohn follows three working adults trying to earn high school diplomas.

Random Tropical Paradise A reworking of that pop classic The Hangover finds a disgruntled groom taking revenge on his cheating bride-to-be. With Bryan Greenberg and Brooks Wheelan.
