Leather Pride Fest: Pre-Folsom fun at Eagle Plaza

The legendary Folsom Street Fair takes place on September 29. But several Leather Week events precede the popular street fair with smaller yet fun events in an array of outdoor and indoor parties, celebrations and live music.

Leather Pride Fest '24 kicks off Sunday, September 22 hosted by the SF Eagle Bar at Eagle Plaza, 398 12th St. Expect a day filled with performances, workshops, and a celebration of leather culture.

The traditional flag raising ceremony at Eagle Plaza also takes place on September 22. This tradition is more than just a ceremonial conclusion of the Leather Pride Walk. It's a powerful symbol of the kink community's history, resilience, unity, and continued growth.

DJed grooves in the Plaza start at 12pm to 3pm with DJ Phil B. The annual flag raising happens at 3pm.

Live performers will include Micah McLaurin (3:15-3:30), David Hernandez (4:00-4:15), Bryce Xavier (5:00-5:10), VIZIN (5:30) and Natascha Bessez (5:45) with DJ Hector Fonseca playing in between acts.


Other events taking place from Sept. 22-29 include:

Leather History Tours: Immerse yourself in the rich history of the leather scene in San Francisco with guided tours around the SoMa district. Learn about the origins, the key figures, and the evolution of the leather community in the city.

Leather Art Exhibitions: Visit local galleries featuring art exhibitions that celebrate and explore themes related to leather culture. From photography to mixed media, these exhibitions offer a unique perspective on the leather community.

Literary Kink
Sexologist Dr. Carol Queen and Race Bannon, co-editors of the new anthology "Kink Is: An Anthology of Surprisingly Relatable True Stories about Sex, Power and Joy," will read excerpts from their works and sign books for sale at multiple events.

David Lauterstein, founder of Nasty Pig kink gear company, and author of a memoir, "Sodomy Gods," will also do a readings and signings.

Leather Workshops: Expand your knowledge and skills with a variety of workshops throughout the week. Whether you're interested in leather crafting, care, or fashion, there's a workshop for you.

Leather-Themed Parties: Every night during Leather Week, local bars and clubs will host themed parties. Dance the night away, meet fellow leather enthusiasts, and enjoy the vibrant nightlife of SoMa.

Dancing Ghosts' Leather & Lace Ball with DJs Xander, Tom Axe and others, at the Cat Club, Sept. 20, 9:30pm to 2:30am, $7-$10, 1190 Folsom St.

Magnitude, the big dance and cruise party with DJs Brian Maier, Thunderpuss and GSP, $111-$138, Sept. 28, 9pm-4am at SVN West, 10 Van Ness Ave. at Market St.

Deviants Adult Arcade with immersive art, multiple DJs and performers, $45-$77, Sept. 29, 6pm-3am at Storek, 155 9th St.

Folsom Street Fair: The grand finale of Leather Week is the Folsom Street Fair, the world's biggest leather event. Expect a day of live music, performances, vendors, and a celebration of the diversity and vibrancy of the leather community.
