Tenderloin Tessie will hold its annual Christmas dinner for those in need Monday, December 25, from 1 to 4 p.m. at the First Unitarian Universalist Church, 1187 Franklin Street in San Francisco.
On the Facebook page for the event (http://bit.ly/2iJXi1f) Michael Gagne, Tenderloin Tessie board president and co-volunteer coordinator, said that volunteer shifts are available from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. that day, and from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, December 24.
The ham dinner is free and includes all the trimmings. Attendees will receive a gift bag and clothes and can take a shower in the Lava Mae bus.
There will also be live entertainment.

Maitri holiday open house
Maitri Compassionate Care, which operates a hospice in the Castro, will hold its annual holiday open house Saturday, December 16, from 2 to 5 p.m. at 401 Duboce Avenue in San Francisco.
People can stop by and meet new Executive Director Anne Gimbel and take a break from the bustle of the season to enjoy appetizers and live holiday music.
There is a suggested donation of $10. Gifts of toiletries for the residents are also welcomed.

Youth program seeks mentors
Huckleberry Youth Programs is looking for interested people to participate in its My City Mentor program, which is through its Community Assessment and Resource Center.
People should be willing to make a six-month commitment and spend one to three hours a week with a mentee. There is also a mandatory monthly mentor meeting at CARC and three group outings (one every other month).
San Francisco youth who will be served through the program are ages 11-17.
