People started gathering in the Castro by 10am on Saturday Nov. 7 as election results were announced, with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris getting enough electoral and popular votes to clinch the presidential election.

By 1pm, a bus with a DJ booth got hundreds, then more than 1,000 celebrants -all wearing facemasks- dancing on Castro Street as others enjoyed food and drinks at outdoor parklets outside bars and restaurants. In between music, celebrants listened to impassioned speeches by Sister Roma, Alex U Inn and others. They also listened to a live audio feed of both Biden and Harris' speeches from the rally in Wilmington, Delaware.

The Castro district gathering, accompanied by passing drivers on Market Street honking horns and waving flags, continued until around 9pm.
