A new upscale deli, bakery, and gelateria plans to open in the Castro next year at 2215 Market Street, between Noe and Sanchez streets.
Little Finn Emporium, a "casual cousin" of the Finn Town Tavern, located a few doors west of the new cafe, will feature sandwiches, soups, salads, charcuterie, and cheeses as well as original baked goods and organic gelato by Coletta Gelato, whose flagship store is located South of Market at 685 Harrison Street.
Little Finn's offerings will focus on takeout and catering platters for delivery, as well as limited indoor seating. Renovations will begin this year with an anticipated opening of April 2019, according to owners Rick Hamer and William Vastardis, gay men who also own Papi Rico, a cantina inspired by the beach culture of Puerto Vallarta, located at 544 Castro Street.
"Opening Little Finn Emporium is part of our continuing effort to make the Castro an attractive destination as well as a great spot for people who live in the neighborhood," Hamer said in a telephone interview with the Bay Area Reporter.
Pastry chef Lori Baker, who has worked at some of the city's top restaurants, will be producing a unique line of cookies, cupcakes, and other treats under the "Daddycakes" moniker, along with personalized custom cakes.
