The stories of the four San Francisco LGBT activists were included in "When We Rise," the ABC miniseries that was broadcast in late February and March. Screenwriter Dustin Lance Black, who created the program, which was partly based on Cleve Jones' memoir of the same name, was unable to attend the Out and Equal celebration.
