Gay former state senator Mark Leno (D-San Francisco) spoke about his lesbian former longtime legislative aide Anna Damiani, whose photo is in front of the podium, during a celebration of Ms. Damiani's life held March 12 at the San Francisco LGBT Community Center. Ms. Damiani, 65, died February 25 in her Castro district home. The Alice B. Toklas LGBTQ Democratic Club, of which Ms. Damiani was a former board member, organized the celebration of life, which fittingly featured purple and lavender, which were Ms. Damiani's trademark colors. Alice co-chair Gary McCoy said that at least 80 people attended the in-person event, which was also streamed on the club's Facebook page.
