War Memorial director takes helm

Mayor London Breed on August 7 swore in John Caldon, third from left, as the new managing director of the San Francisco War Memorial. Caldon, a gay man, was joined by gay men Tom DeCaigny, left, director of cultural affairs at the Arts Commission, and Matthew Goudeau, right, head of Grants for the Arts. Caldon was appointed to the position by the War Memorial Board of Trustees in May and succeeds longtime managing director Elizabeth Murray, who retired.
