History made in Santa Cruz

Adam Spickler, left, was administered the oath of office by Santa Cruz County Superior Court Judge Syda Cogliati Monday, December 10, as he was sworn into his seat on the Cabrillo College Board. Spickler was appointed in lieu of election on August 15 when no one else entered the race for the community college board Area II seat. He is the first trans man to hold elected office in California. Other new and returning Cabrillo trustees who took the oath Monday were Dan Rothwell and Donna Ziel. Standing behind Spickler is Cabrillo College Trustee Rachael Spencer.
