Thank you very much, it has been both humbling and encouraging receiving your generous support when so many are also in need of help. So far, we have raised just over $25,000 and are just 15% away from reaching our goal of $30,000.

We have extended the deadline because an anonymous donor has pledged to pay for transaction fees if we achieve our goal and to match contributions beyond it until June 1. So the amount raised above $30,000 will be doubled to support journalism at San Francisco's independently owned, legacy LGBTQ+ community news source.

Please help us cross the finish line and exceed our goal so we can pay our staff, 70-plus freelance writers and photographers and keep our legacy LGBT newspaper and website operating.

Throughout the years, the Bay Area Reporter focused on stories that mainstream media did not consider important: anti-gay discrimination in employment and housing; bias and fear of people with HIV/AIDS; victims of abuse and anti-gay violence; the plight of at-risk youth; and the unmet needs of LGBT elders.

We've also supported thousands of LGBT artists through the years, with lively features, reviews, and nightlife coverage. Our publication has given voice to the vulnerable and is a record of our history. But only with your help can we continue to play this unique role.

If you've done what you can and donated to other worthy causes, thank you — that's great. A simple share on Facebook, Twitter, or other accounts will be a tremendous help too, and it only takes a few seconds.
