Gay state Senator Scott Wiener, right, joined Salvation Army volunteers May 6 to help pack and distribute meals for the temporary Meals in Place SF project in tandem with the Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing. According to Salvation Army spokeswoman Jennifer Byrd, the organization is delivering 1,400 meals a day to homeless people in the city so that they can continue to shelter in place.
