Michael Sione Green, 27, will likely spend the rest of his life in prison after a judge sentenced him this week in the murder of a lesbian and the attempted murder of her friend near San Francisco's gay Club OMG nightclub in November 2013.
"This is a tragedy all around," San Francisco Superior Court Judge Loretta Giorgi told Green at his sentencing Tuesday.
Melquiesha Warren, 23, "is dead, and for all intents and purposes, your life is over, too," said Giorgi.
Amanda Buckley, Warren's mother, cried as she told Green, who looked down at the table in front of him, "She doesn't deserve to be dead."
"I feel sorry for your kids, because they have to grow up without a father," Buckley added, but "I don't forgive you. I don't."
In August, a jury convicted Green of shooting Warren after a minor collision in a parking lot near Club OMG. Jurors also convicted Green of trying to murder a friend of Warren's, who'd been celebrating her girlfriend's birthday, along with numerous other charges.
Giorgi sentenced Green to 25 years to life for Warren's murder and another 25 years to life for using a semi-automatic firearm. She also gave him seven years to life for the attempted murder of Warren's friend, plus 25 years to life on another firearm-related enhancement. That alone brought the sentence to at least 82 years, and she added additional years for other counts.
As he prepared for deputies to escort him out of the courtroom, Green looked back at his family members seated in the gallery.
"We love you, Mike," one person said.
Outside the courtroom, Buckley said she's "very satisfied with the sentence."
"I do feel sorry for his parents," she said, but "justice was served today."
Members of Green's family declined to comment.
