Santa joined Mayor London Breed and other local notables to greet the crowd at the annual lighting of the Castro holiday tree November 29. The Castro Merchants Association organized the event, which returned after a hiatus in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. (There was a tree last year, but no public ceremony.) Merchants hope for a bustling holiday shopping season in the LGBTQ district.
