Longtime Bay Area gay and labor activist Cleve Jones joined others at the West County Detention Center in Richmond Tuesday, June 26, to protest the Trump administration's zero tolerance policy at the southern U.S. border, the president's child separation policy, and his travel ban, which was upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court. The Contra Costa County center is the only Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility in the Bay Area, and is operated under a contract with the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office. The day of action lasted 12 hours, Jones said in a Facebook post. Other organizations that sponsored the event included the National Center for Lesbian Rights, the Harvey Milk LGBTQ Democratic Club, and UNITE HERE Local 2850.
