Runners carry rainbow flags Saturday, June 16, in the Memorial Run in New York City. The run is a quadrennial event associated with the Gay Games that raises awareness of the toll of AIDS and the need for resources to fight it. Legs of the run are staged in other former Gay Games host cities, leading up to the final leg at Gay Games X Paris in August.
