Newly transitioning Chaz Bono made a special appearance at the Transgender Law Center's seventh anniversary benefit Thursday, November 5 at the Endup in San Francisco. Bono, the child of Sonny and Cher, announced his gender transition this summer. He told benefit attendees that TLC Executive Director Masen Davis "was the first trans guy I've ever talked to about my struggle to start transitioning." Bono also noted that while it is "still really hard to be trans in this country ... California has the best transgender laws in the country." TLC honored longtime transgender advocates Jamison Green and Cecilia Chung; the Asian Pacific Islander Wellness Center and Lyon Martin Health Services; and the California Wellness Foundation and local drag diva Juanita More. Comedian Margaret Cho and hostess Tita Aida provided light-hearted moments for the crowd, and entertainers included the Rice Rockettes, Josh Klipp, Monistat, and Lipstick Conspiracy.
